Air Force Push-up Standards 2026
The muscular-strength component uses one selected event: 1-minute push-ups or 2-minute hand-release push-ups. Each event has its own official repetition thresholds by age group and sex.
This calculator treats every published threshold as a discrete score tier. It does not interpolate between rows or use an old PFA table.
Highest listed muscular-strength component score.
Lowest point row contained in the official 2026 PFRA chart.
Published push-up tiers increase in half-point steps.
Choose the correct event
1-Minute Push-ups vs. 2-Minute Hand-Release Push-ups
Select the exact event you performed. A repetition total cannot be moved between the two tables because the timing and movement requirements differ.
1-Minute Push-ups
- 1-minute event
- Standard push-up movement
- Scored by accepted repetitions
- Uses the push-up table
2-Minute Hand-Release Push-ups
- 2-minute event
- Hand-release movement
- Scored separately by repetitions
- Uses the HRPU table

How the Air Force Push-up Calculator Works
No universal number
How Many Push-ups Do You Need?
The required repetitions for a specific score vary by age group, sex, and test type. A single universal minimum would therefore be misleading.
Use the calculator or filtered score chart above to see both the lowest listed tier and the 15-point maximum for your exact profile. The Next Score Target shows the smallest repetition increase needed to reach the following tier.
Practical preparation
How to Improve Your Air Force Push-up Score
Practice the exact event and time limit you plan to use. Progress should prioritize accepted repetitions and repeatable movement quality rather than a single exhausted practice set.
Count only repetitions that match the required movement standard.
Build volume with clean sets that stop before technique breaks down.
Increase repeatable upper-body work over several sessions.
Rehearse one-minute or two-minute pacing for the selected event.
Reserve all-out attempts for occasional checks instead of daily training.
Record accepted repetitions and compare them with the next chart tier.
