How the Coast Guard PFT Calculator Works
This calculator records your age, sex, push-up count, forearm-plank time, and 1.5-mile run time. It then converts the three event results into an unofficial estimated score out of 300.
For transparency, the estimator anchors the published Boat Crew minimum for your age/sex profile at 60 estimated points in each event, then scales performance above or below that reference. The interpolation is a planning model, not official Coast Guard scoring policy.
Current test of record
What Is the Coast Guard PFT in 2026?
The Coast Guard Physical Readiness Program became fully operational on July 1, 2026. Mandatory PFT results began being recorded in Direct Access after the earlier practice-assessment period.
Current Coast Guard reporting also confirms a 300-point perfect PFT score. This calculator therefore displays an estimated 0–300 total while clearly separating the estimate from official scoring.
Mandatory PFT implementation date under the service-wide Physical Readiness Program.
The Coast Guard publicly recognized the first members to achieve perfect 300-point PFT scores in July 2026.
Mandatory PFT results are recorded in Direct Access under current implementation guidance.
Push-Ups
Measures upper-body muscular endurance using accepted repetitions performed to the required event standard.
Forearm Plank
Measures core endurance using an accepted timed hold while maintaining the required body position.
1.5-Mile Run
Measures cardiorespiratory endurance by recording the time required to complete the authorized distance.
Important distinction
Coast Guard PFT vs. Boat Crew PFT
The service-wide 2026 Physical Readiness Program makes PFT performance an official readiness requirement. Coast Guard guidance also states that members continue to use the Boat Crew physical fitness test framework while the new program is implemented.
The published Boat Forces table below remains especially relevant to Boat Crew competencies and shows concrete minimum values by age and sex. It should not be treated as a substitute for every current PRP scoring or administrative rule.
Published Boat Forces standards
Coast Guard Boat Crew PFT Standards
The current public Boat Forces table states that Coast Guard boat crews must meet these physical-fitness standards to qualify and maintain currency. The cardio column includes a 1.5-mile run, with a 12-minute swim or 2000-meter row identified as alternate cardio options in the Boat Forces guide.

Practical preparation
How to Prepare for the Coast Guard PFT
Prepare for the movements you will actually test. Build volume gradually, practice legal form, and record exact repetitions and times so you can see whether your training is moving in the right direction.
Build repeatable sets with the same range of motion and body position expected during the test.
Accumulate quality hold time while keeping a straight body line and practicing under a stopwatch.
Combine easy aerobic work with controlled intervals near the pace required for your target time.
Practice the events in realistic order so transitions and accumulated fatigue are familiar.
Use gradual progression and adequate recovery instead of testing maximal effort every day.
Track reps and times consistently so your weakest event is obvious before an official test.
Questions after calculating
Coast Guard PFT Calculator FAQ
When did mandatory Coast Guard PFTs start in 2026?
The Physical Readiness Program became fully operational and mandatory PFTs began July 1, 2026.
Are Coast Guard PFT scores now part of the official record?
Yes. Coast Guard guidance directed commands and members to record mandatory PFT scores in Direct Access beginning July 1, 2026.
Is the 0–300 score shown here official?
No. The Coast Guard has publicly confirmed a 300-point perfect score, but this page uses a transparent interpolation model because the complete current public scoring matrix is not reproduced here. Treat the result as an unofficial planning estimate.
Is the Coast Guard PFT the same as the Boat Crew PFT?
The 2026 service-wide PRP uses the established fitness-test framework, while Boat Forces separately publishes concrete Boat Crew standards used to qualify and maintain currency. Current PRP administrative and scoring rules remain controlling.
Can I use this page to check Boat Crew minimums?
Yes, the Boat Crew tables on this page reproduce the public male and female minimum standards by age group. They are shown separately from the main performance-summary tool.
Does age affect Coast Guard fitness requirements?
Published Boat Forces standards use age groups, and current Coast Guard scoring also references age-based standards. Always verify the current scoring matrix that applies to your official test.
Can I enter practice workout results?
Yes. The calculator is useful for formatting practice results before an official PFT, but it does not create an authorized score record.
What should I do if my practice results are below the published minimums?
Use the lowest event as a training priority, practice the exact test movement, and confirm current requirements with your Physical Readiness Leader or command before the official test.
