Current requirements

2026 Marine PFT Plank Standards

1:10 earns 40 points, the minimum scoring threshold. 3:45 earns 100 points, and longer holds remain capped at 100.

Marine Corps Force Fitness states that the plank uses a single standard. Since January 1, 2023, the plank has been the mandatory PFT abdominal/core event and crunches are no longer authorized for that event.

The 2026 combat-arms policy changes the overall PFT scoring requirement for specified PMOSs, but it does not create a separate plank scoring table.

How the Marine Corps Plank Is Scored

This calculator does not use linear interpolation. It awards the highest published threshold you actually reached. That is why 2:27 = 69 until 2:28 is reached, and 3:00 = 82 until 3:02 is reached.

How to Improve Your Marine PFT Plank Score

Use the next point threshold as a short-term target and build time gradually while keeping test-quality body position.

Core endurance

Build repeatable trunk endurance instead of maxing out every session.

Plank form

Keep shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles aligned without excessive sag or piking.

Progressive holds

Add time gradually and practice slightly beyond the next scoring threshold.

Controlled breathing

Use steady breathing so unnecessary tension does not end the hold early.

Specific practice

Rehearse the official forearm-plank position under a timer.

Recovery

Allow enough recovery to maintain quality across harder core sessions.

The plank is the PFT abdominal/core event. This page calculates the plank event only, not your overall PFT total or class.

Additional questions

Marine Plank Calculator FAQ

What happens if my plank is shorter than 1:10?

The event is below the minimum scoring threshold, so this calculator returns 0 points.

Can I score more than 100 by holding longer than 3:45?

No. Any hold of 3:45 or longer remains capped at 100 points.

Why does adding one second sometimes not increase my score?

The official table uses specific time thresholds. Your score changes only when the next threshold is reached.

Did the 2026 combat-arms change create a different plank table?

No separate plank table is identified in the cited 2026 policy change. The plank itself continues to use a single standard.

Is this an official Marine Corps calculator?

No. It is an independent informational tool using the published Marine Corps plank scoring table.

Disclaimer: This calculator is provided for informational and training purposes only. It is not an official U.S. Marine Corps scoring tool. For official PFT results and current requirements, follow Marine Corps guidance and your authorized PFT administrator.
