Human Performance & Readiness
Space Force HPA Calculator
Calculate your HPA composite from official component points and check your current 2026 Space Force physical readiness category.
Current SPFMAN 36-2905 uses a 100-point HPA composite. Body composition is assessed separately with waist-to-height ratio.
Current official scoring framework
Space Force Human Performance Assessment
Record your HPA performance and enter the official component points shown by myFitness/current Space Force scoring charts. The calculator totals the supported 60 + 20 + 20 point structure without inventing raw-performance conversions.
Basic Information
Used to describe your HPA profile. Current physical component standards are age- and sex-specific.
Cardiorespiratory Fitness
2-mile run or 20-meter HAMR. At least one of the two annual HPAs must use the 2-mile run.
Muscular Strength
Current 2026 guidance provides push-up and hand-release push-up options.
Muscular Endurance
Choose sit-ups, cross-leg reverse crunches, or timed forearm plank.
Body Composition · Separate BCA
WHtR is calculated here for context, but current SPFMAN states BCA is not a scored HPA component.
Your 100-point HPA composite, current Space Force category, component-minimum status, and separate WHtR result will appear here.
Current 2026 framework
2026 Space Force HPA Standards
The current published SPFMAN describes three scored physical components and a separate Body Composition Assessment. Guardians must meet the minimum in every scored physical component and earn a composite of at least 75 out of 100 to be considered physically ready.
2-mile run or 20-meter HAMR. The 2-km walk is medical pass/fail only.
Push-up or hand-release push-up modality.
Sit-up, CLRC, or timed forearm plank.
Separate BCA standard; not added to the HPA composite.
Readiness categories
What Is a Passing Space Force HPA Score?
Current SPFMAN uses a 75-point physical readiness threshold, not the earlier 60/80 language from the first 2025 public announcement. A component minimum failure also produces a Health Concern result even if the arithmetic total is 75 or higher.
All components assessed and all minimums met. Next HPA due in 6 months.
All components assessed and all minimums met. Next HPA due in 6 months.
Also applies when any component minimum is not met. Next HPA due in 3 months.
2026 update
What's New for Space Force HPA in 2026?
Effective Jan. 1, 2026, Space Force guidance requires Guardians to complete two HPAs annually. Cardio may use the 2-mile run or 20-meter HAMR, but at least one of the two annual assessments must include the 2-mile run.
The current framework allows multiple strength and endurance modalities and integrates the HPA into the broader Holistic Health Approach rather than treating it as an old Air Force PFA under a different name.
Separate systems
Space Force HPA vs. Air Force PFA
Human Performance and Readiness framework with current Space Force component rules, categories, administration, and myFitness HPA scoring charts.
A separate Air Force fitness program with its own current scoring charts and policy updates. Those charts are not substituted into this calculator.
Body composition
How WHtR Fits Into Space Force Readiness
Current SPFMAN states that Body Composition Assessment is not a scored HPA component. WHtR is calculated by dividing waist circumference by height in the same units and truncating—not rounding—to two decimal places.
The Space Force body-composition standard is WHtR < 0.55. A result of 0.55 or higher exceeds the standard and triggers further body-fat evaluation under the body composition program.
Preparation
How to Prepare for the Space Force HPA
Preparation should match the HPA's separate performance domains instead of focusing on only one event.
Build aerobic capacity and practice sustained pacing over the required 2-mile distance.
Train the exact selected strength modality with repeatable, technically correct repetitions.
Prepare for the sit-up, CLRC, or forearm-plank option you expect to use.
Track waist-to-height ratio separately while focusing on sustainable training, recovery, and nutrition.

Additional questions
Space Force HPA Calculator FAQ
Is the Space Force HPA the same as the Air Force PT test?
No. The HPA is governed by the Space Force Human Performance and Readiness framework and its official myFitness HPA scoring charts.
How many HPAs do Guardians take in 2026?
Current Jan. 2026 Space Force guidance requires two HPAs annually for Guardians.
Is the 2-mile run required for every HPA?
No. Cardio can use the 2-mile run or 20-meter HAMR, but at least one of the two annual HPAs must use the 2-mile run.
Can the 20-meter HAMR replace the 2-mile run?
It can be selected for an HPA when authorized, but it cannot replace the requirement that at least one annual HPA include the 2-mile run.
Why do I have to enter component points manually?
The current public SPFMAN states that myFitness is the official repository for the HPA Fitness Scoring Charts. This independent page does not invent raw-performance conversion tables that are not published in the public manual.
Does body composition add points to the HPA composite?
No. Current SPFMAN explicitly states that BCA is not a scored HPA component.
How is Space Force waist-to-height ratio calculated?
Divide waist circumference by height using the same units, then truncate the result to two decimal places under the current manual procedure.
Where can I find official Space Force HPA policy?
Use the official Space Force physical-fitness guidance, Space Policy page, and Human Performance and Readiness manual announcement linked below.
